BEDAZZLED......
"Someone somewhere is made for you"..This very cheesy line was made popular by King Khan in Dil Toh Pagal Hai..(Remember Hi! I'm Rahul...Naam toh Suna Hoga..) The point being that God has made that one someone special for all of us...He's prepared the rough draft and now its our job (Or rather should I say the job of the multitude of marriage brokers, the innumerable relatives, acquaintances, community friend, so on and so forth...The number people who come forward to help youfinda perfect match is unbelievable) to prepare for the final exam and find the correct answer...Oops!! I mean person..It's quite a wretched job to begin with because bio-datas are to be prepared with the vaguest of information in it...Then you have to exchange the bio-datas and then get the Kundalis matched...The decking up...The meeting...The TAMASHA...Keeps everybody on their toes...Kind of makes up to be a simple movie and finding the perfect life partner ultimately becomes a herculean task.. Now this entire process can be watched from two points of view...One from the point of the guy and the other ofcourse from the girl's point of view...
SCENE 1 : (The boy's place)
An almost perfect bio-data for the boy has been fund by a marriage broker. The wheels have been set in motion and the vicious circle is about to begin.. Process 1: Evaluation of the bio-data (trying to find out whether the girl has the qualities they are searching for from the miniscule information provided..almost looks like a slam book entry..).Along with trying to find some flaw...It could be for any reason. Process 2: Once the bio-data has been approved the kundali now has to be sent for matching. Now here you have two options..Well congraulations...The kundali matches...31 gunas out of 36..Indeed an almost perfect match.. Process 3: The marriage broker is ecstatic (he woud finally get a big fat commission...It's enough to make anyone happy)...
LET THE FUN BEGIN...
SCENE 1: (The girl's place)
Now, the scene at the girl's place is a bit different...The daughter is of course the apple (or which ever fruit you might like to choose) of her father's eye and hence, he is very cautious before taking any decision. So, when the guy's bio-data first arrives very serious discussions take place in the house..the processes are the same.. The story does not end here my friend....PICTURE ABHI BAAKI HAI MERE DOST... Once both the paties agree to take the next sep (which is to make the two people meet and see what they decide) So, the first person to face the axe is the guy. A few people from the girl's family go to see the guy in the work place ( I think that's the place they choose to decide whether the guy is worthy of the cabin he is sitting in. If he is worthy of the cabin then he might also be worthy for their daughter. Weird logic but kinda makes sense...). Tcs,books,tv chnesh and ready for the meeting..he looks as i he is freshout from the shower. He now gears up for the interview which greatly affects his future..The range of topics covered is incredible...from music to politics...books, tv sitcoms...you name it and he is asked a question on that...After answering all the questions intelligently and tactfully, the interview finally ends... This is on the camera action...Let's see what's happening behind the scenes..Well the scene is quite different with a multitude of emotions flowing..Especially for the boy and girl for if everything goes according to plan then they just might be embarking on a lif changing journey..
Let me tell you something abou our girl..She is an avid Mills & Boons fan and is hoping that herprince charming is the TDH types...Confused..TDH=Tall, Dark and Handome types (typically MB style)..She has her own set of expectations of her perfect life partner..(Perfect and MEN...Dream On!!!)..Well she is looking for the same qualities what most girls want in their life partners...Good sense of humour lively, adventurous, extroverted, soul searching eyes.caring, understanding...In short she is hoping for a miracle...Trying to find all the qualities in one man...She wonders about the questions she would be asked and how she would be answering them... Now our boy too is lost in these thouughts...Wondering what the girl will be like..Would she live up to his expectations...
Now here I would like to mention that all guys what their chicks to be the perfect paragons while they themselves are far from perfection..He's mentally trying to prepare the questions he would like to answers and even assuming the anwers he would like to expect...LOL...He's trying tp picture what kind of a girl she would be..His mind's eye trying to draw a picture from the following description...Fair,Tall,SLim and soft spoken...amazing artist...could give picasso a run for his money...
Now while both are lost in their own thoughts...We have external influences giving out advice for free...Like the aunts,uncles,brothers,sister-in-law, etc...Everybody who has had some kind of experiece in the matter is dishing out advice free of cost...Everyone's trying to feel important...The girl is bombarded with the following advice...Don't talk to too much...Thodi sharam haya ankhon mai dikhni chahiye(drama queen they expect her to be)..Touch the feet of the elders present.and so on and so forth...The guy too is getting similarly screwed...The elder brothers are all dishing out advice...Ask all the questions you want to ask(which means the dirty bits too), don't hesitate...be calm...They were all relievning their own times(plesant memories..Now a thing of the past..) The day of the meeting has been decided....The place of course has to be a five star hotel...prestige issues come into question here...At the girl's palce there is uttr chaos...Outfit needs to be decided...the matching accessories(there are lot of things required before a lady can fully dress up)..In all this confusion the decisions are fially made. The girl gets up early to get ready.. They arrive at the meeting place before the guy's family arrives..The girl is nervously sipping on water waiting when she sees a horde of people entering the hotel...She pays no attention to them until she sees her father rush to greet them..She was almost in a state of disarray..So many people had come...It felt as if the entire had come there to grill her...(*Bloody brilliant...Now I have to answer so many people...The interview is going to be tougher than that of the top B-schools although the motive is the same...To find a good manager...The former looks for a manager for an MNC but in this case for the house..)
Introductions begin and the poor girl dies from just bending and touching the feet of the elders (the guy was the youngest and everybody there was an elder..DAMN) and scared of her saree untying...Everybody takes a seat and the round table discussion is about to begin..to the girl's horror she suddenly see the boy's tauji taking out a list of questions he hopes th girl would answer to his satisfaction...Let's take a sneak peek into the girl's mind...I feel like a bloody convict whose been convicted for mass murder and I m about to face the court of law...The tauji is beginning to fire the questions...(Now I know how the terrorists felt like in the climax of the movie Shootout At Lokhandwala-isko kehte hai non-stop firing)..It took 25 minuts to dispose off tauji's questions...Then everybody butted n with a question or too...then this sweet old lady sit beside her and she begin to relax hoping she would not have to answer any questions and she was right...No questions were asked for she was there with an entirely different motive...Lo Behold she bends forward and touches her ears...Immediately the girl's hands fly to her ears fearing she had dropped a ear ring or something but that was not the case...It felt like as if she was checking her ear size...now that's soemhing new(Rumou has it when the elder bahu was being selected the other brothers told the dadi that the girl's ear size was not the same...)That was why I was being bodily checked...
When the inquisition was over she was finally allowed to meet the guy (Finally...PHEW!!) While they went to sit in one corner...A bunch of youngesters passing by loudly wished them a best of luck...It's so embarrassing... The guy was very shy intitally but finally bean to be comfortable and asking questions and generally building up a conversation...The talk was pretty comfortable and the girl was silently trying to make up her mind..She liked what she could see but we all know that there is more to what meets the eye...After we spoke for some more time...It was time to go sit with our respective families...The guy informed his elder brother that he was ok with the meeting and he had no problems with the girl..The girl said the same...And the rishta was accepted...BUT...
"Milan ABhi Adha Adhura Hai..."..

Candid moments
My famous slap episode with Kulsum when we were in the first standard...I don't know why I could never stand her...Childish prejudices I suppose...But you its amazing...I never even remembered that I had slapped her until she reminded me of it...And I was feeling so nice...Feel-good-factor(Ahhh...here comes out the bitch in me...)Then my famous fiasco with a maths teacher of mine...Its what I call Mutual Dislike...I could not stand her...She could not stand me...She was opposite everything I stood for as correct...She bad-mouthed a person whom I considered a very nice friend...Welll I guess she got to know that loyalty to friends is what I stand for...We used to have such a gala time bitching about her and her accent...Example was actually pronounced as Examble....her dressing sense...My gosh....But then again I guess the "examble" she set upon me was so horrible...I disliked maths since then...
I think my favourite teacher till ate has been Mrs.Kundu...My maths teacher in the senior section...She was the sole reason why I started enjoying maths again...I was not good at it(well good is an understatement...I was just a little shade better than bad)..She was someone you could look upto...Whole load of fun...Jolly smile...That brilliant sarcastic tongue which could rip your confdence to shreds with a smiling face...It was brilliant...And the best was to see her having a go at students she knew were the troublemakers...An incredible sight...Must Watch.,...
Well talking about Mrs.Kundu gave me another reminder...Ohh we were doing trigo..( I hated the sin's and the cos's I swear it)...We were discussing the formula for the inverse's...And lo behold...We have this very special new formula brought about by a very special favourite of ma'am...The sec suddenly sex.,...The class is rolling on the floor laughing...And ma'am shoots out of the class not knowing where to look to have a hearty laugh herself I think...Brilliant...That scene it still so clearly etched on my mind...God..!!
Then ofcourse dear old paratha face..My new hindi teacher...Perfectly annoying with that flat face of hers but still Ok...Not much of a brilliant teacher except she used words in Hindi which sounded like sanskrit to me...I don't know who was more shocked after seeing my ISC hindi marks...She or Me...LOL
Anyways...School life's not always fun...The last day was terrible...Tears and hugs and miss you's everywhere....That 14 year of my life were the best parts...I found the most awesome friends...Made some enemies but most importantly...Shaped me as a person...

Now that everybody's mind has started rolling on about what I do think let me share this one idea I had while sleeping.
I was an Interactor and from there I got this thing about social service and maybe doing something which would give me inner peace and I did just that...There is this orphnage where epilepsy affected kids stay...epilepsy is a neurologival disease...yu get fits and seizures from time to time and it can be life threating...Some of the children there are deaf and dmb too...Some unable to do the basic chores of daily life...Even something as mundane as being able to eat your own food...
My first visit left me with tears and somewhat guilty that I had everything right going for me and I never appreciate the luxury available to me...These kids survive on the donations received from the government or from the other patrons like you and me...That visit changed my focus on it...In life if the one good deed I have done is that I have almost made it a ritual to be part of their lives...I go there on every ocassion possible...
Birthdays of every family member in my house(there are not many just the 4 of us), my parents' anniversary...the festivals....during holi took them colors...during diwali with the firecrackers and sweets...Just hoping to make their day bit brighter...
The selfishness on my part is that I go there because it makes me feel good about myself and the satisfaction it gives me...The smile on their faces...The hands folded in prayer when they eat and their thank you's is enough to give anyone a high...even someone as cold as me..!!
Guys, life is too short...They say make the most of it and party but in reality life never is a party...its just us humans behaving like ostriches and hiding our faces beneath the sand so that we don't have to face reality...
Think About It!!
